Daxueshan National Forest Recreation Area is situated on the rear section of the southwest main ridge of the Xueshan Range, with elevations ranging from the highest point at Xiaoxueshan, extending southwest through Anma Mountain, Chuanxing Mountain, and Shaolai Mountain down to the Shaolai Creek valley at approximately 1000 meters. This area was once the Daxueshan Logging Site, established in 1958, which brought prosperity to Dongshi and Fengyuan. Today, this mountain town, just an hour away from Dongshi, has become a forest recreation area, continuing to provide the gifts of nature to the people of central Taiwan. With an elevation exceeding 2000 meters, the climate is cool. The area around the Small Giant Tree Trail and Muma Trail still preserves primeval cypress forests, which are among the most beautiful sights in the recreation area. Located in the deepest part of the park, the 50-meter-tall, over 1400-year-old Giant Tree was once the 11th largest giant tree in Taiwan!
Wildlife is Daxueshan's greatest treasure: Reeve's muntjacs, Formosan serows, and white-faced flying squirrels enliven the night, while during the day, Mikado pheasants, Swinhoe's pheasants, and Formosan yuhinas hop about. While strolling through the forest and enjoying a refreshing forest bath, you are very likely to have an unexpected encounter with these little stars!

Consumers who purchase electronic tickets for the Forest Recreation Area can enter the Daxueshan National Forest Recreation Area ticket station after the staff sense the QR code (because the signal is prone to instability on the mountain, passengers are asked to take a screenshot of the QR CODE in case there is no signal on the mountain) Unable to connect to the Internet), and parking fees are waived.
