Chengdu is absolutely worth visiting! If you don't love the interesting architecture and cityscape, you'll be amazed by the spicy, delicious Sichuan cuisine. Another thing I love about Chengdu is that it is extremely laid-back for a Chinese city, and is arguably the only Chinese city to deserve that designation.

You need 2 to 3 days to see the main sights in Chengdu city, but 3 to 5 days is recommended to include popular day trips to nearby attractions. The ideal length of your stay depends on your interests and how many nearby sites you want to visit, but three to four days is a common recommendation for a good first-time experience. Explore the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Dufu Thatched Cottage, and the historic Kuanzhai Alley. Enjoy the city's famous food, relax in People's Park, and visit some of the many teahouses.

The best months to visit Chengdu are generally during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October), as these periods offer comfortable weather and pleasant temperatures for sightseeing. Summer can be hot and humid, while winter is colder and can see fewer tourists, though it is a good time to experience local culture. The period from March to June is excellent for observing pandas at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

Chengdu is generally considered an affordable destination, especially when compared to major metropolises. You can find good value for accommodation, food, and activities, allowing for a rich travel experience without a prohibitive cost.
