Day 1
We will depart from Iquitos City by car, arriving at the port town of Nanay (Bellavista), where the Nanay River meets the Amazon River. From there, we will travel by boat downriver for about 70 km (2 hours). During the boat ride, you'll have the chance to see a variety of wildlife, including caimans, turtles, herons, pink river dolphins, snakes, and other fascinating species along the riverbanks.
Our first stop will be Monkey Island, where you can observe and interact with a wide range of monkeys in their natural habitat. You'll encounter species such as sloths, Goeldi's monkeys, Tamarin monkeys, Capuchin monkeys, Yellow-Handed Titi monkeys, Masked Titi monkeys, Woolly monkeys, Spider monkeys, and many others! There will also be opportunities to hold large Anacondas and Boas and interact with the rare Amazonian mata-mata turtle.
We will then continue to our remote campsite at the Yanayacu tributary, where we’ll set up for an authentic jungle camping experience. In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a fishing excursion where you can try your hand at catching piranha, catfish, and other species. Later, back at the campsite, we’ll have a dolphin-watching session with the possibility of seeing the famous pink river dolphins. If we're lucky, we may even get to swim with them in the tributary’s calm waters.
As night falls, we’ll embark on a thrilling nocturnal nature hike to spot species like lizards, snakes, spiders, and maybe even monkeys.
Overnight camping at Yanayacu tributary.
Day 2
At dawn, we’ll begin a jungle hike, giving you the chance to see a wide array of monkeys, birds, and other wildlife in their natural environment. We’ll also learn about different types of Amazonian plants and their uses.
On our way back to Iquitos, we’ll visit a local indigenous tribe to learn about their history, customs, and traditions. We'll also see the impressive Victoria Regia, the largest freshwater aquatic plant in the world.
Return to Iquitos with a transfer to your hotel or the airport to conclude the tour.
