This course will be viewed from the [Club Tourism Exclusive Seating Area] (Shinano River riverbed, left bank). You will be seated in a space on the dirt ground of the riverbed, where a plastic sheet has been laid out.
We will arrive at the fireworks venue relatively early, between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Since you will be waiting for a long time before the fireworks begin, please take sufficient precautions against the heat.
It usually takes about 10 minutes to walk from the bus parking lot to the viewing area. After the fireworks end, traffic congestion occurs in the city due to police traffic restrictions, so it typically takes 2 to 3 hours for buses to leave the parking lot. Therefore, although we plan to arrive at the accommodation around 2:30 AM, this may vary significantly from the initial estimate.
In the event of severe weather, the Nagaoka Fireworks Competition may cancel the fireworks display at its discretion. If a decision is made before the tour departs from Tokyo Station, your trip will be cancelled. If no decision is made before departure, the tour will depart as scheduled. Please note that no refunds will be given for tour fees after departure.
Due to the expected heavy crowds, we will prioritize fireworks viewing in our itinerary. There is a possibility that some parts of the itinerary may be changed. Also, due to safety regulations for tour buses, there may be long waits before departure from the station or hotel.
A fee of 1,500 yen per meal will be charged for any changes to the meal plan due to food allergies, religious reasons, etc., plus any difference in price. Please notify us at least 14 days before your departure date.
Please leave the seating arrangements for transportation (bus, airplane, train, etc.) and accommodation room assignments to us. We kindly ask that you refrain from reclining your bus seat.
Even when booking for two or more people, train seats may not be adjacent or may be separated. Please be aware of this in advance.
You may be using the Hakutaka Shinkansen train.
The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival is usually held over two evenings, typically on August 2nd and 3rd each year. The main fireworks display generally begins in the early evening, around 7:00 PM, and continues for approximately two hours until 9:00 PM. Each evening features different themed displays and impressive sequences, culminating in a grand finale that is a major highlight for attendees.
The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival takes place along the Shinano River in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. The main viewing areas are typically located on both the right and left banks of the river. Dedicated box seats, such as those offered in organized tours, provide exclusive viewing from specific sections like the left bank, ensuring an optimal and comfortable experience to witness the grand display.
The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival holds deep historical and cultural significance as a memorial event. It began in 1946 as a prayer for peace and reconstruction after the city was heavily bombed during World War II. Today, it continues to honor the victims, express gratitude for peace, and celebrate the city's recovery. The festival's enduring spirit is symbolized by its spectacular fireworks, particularly the 'Phoenix' display, which represents rebirth and hope.
The Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Display typically runs for about two hours each evening. The entire festival usually spans two consecutive evenings, with different fireworks programs presented on each night. This allows attendees ample time to experience various types of fireworks, including large-scale shells, musical synchronizations, and the famous 'Phoenix' display, culminating in a breathtaking finale.
Reaching the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival venue often involves using public transportation to Nagaoka Station, then typically walking or taking shuttle buses to the riverbanks. For a more convenient experience, tours departing from major cities like Tokyo often include round-trip Shinkansen (bullet train) tickets to Nagaoka. Some tours also provide parking close to the venue, usually within a 10-minute walk, reducing travel time and hassle.
Yes, dedicated viewing seats, such as exclusive box seats, are available for the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival to ensure a comfortable and unobstructed viewing experience. These seats, often located on the left bank, provide an excellent vantage point for the grand display. You can secure such dedicated seating through KKday, which offers curated tours that include these exclusive spots, providing convenience and a guaranteed prime location without the stress of finding a viewing area independently.
The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival is renowned for its immense scale, including some of the largest fireworks launched in Japan, such as the famous Sanshakudama (3-shaku shell). Its significance also stems from its historical roots as a prayer for peace and reconstruction. Coupled with its breathtaking synchronized displays and special fireworks like the 'Phoenix,' it attracts millions of visitors annually, cementing its status as one of Japan's most celebrated and emotionally resonant pyrotechnic events.
During the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival, accommodation options in Nagaoka City and nearby areas can range from hotels to guesthouses. Due to extremely high demand, it is highly recommended to book well in advance. Some organized tours, such as a 2-day tour departing from Tokyo, include accommodation at hotels like Hotel Nagano Avenue, providing a convenient and pre-arranged stay as part of the package, eliminating the hassle of securing lodging independently during peak season.
