2. Target audience:
2.1 It is recommended that children be 11 years of age or older or 145 cm or taller. Children under 18 years of age must provide parental consent. Children under 15 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian. If no legal guardian can accompany the child, the legal guardian must agree to appoint an agent to accompany the child.
2.2 Individuals aged 70 and above must submit a consent form to participate, and it is strongly recommended that they be accompanied by family or friends.
2.3 The rider must be at least 14 years old and preferably be at least 150 cm tall to ride an electric-assisted bicycle.
2.4 For parent-child tours, summer camps, or special itineraries, please refer to the itinerary announcements for details.
2.5 It is recommended that applicants be 16 years of age or older for overseas trips.
3. Rest stops and activity times may be adjusted depending on actual weather conditions and the pace of the group members.
4. The hotel accommodation and itinerary will be confirmed in the pre-departure notice.
5. In the event of force majeure such as weather conditions, the company reserves the right to make final interpretations of the activity and has the right to temporarily change the itinerary. No refunds will be given to those who leave the group or abandon the trip.
6. Due to the high difficulty of cycling, this activity is not suitable for people with chronic or acute diseases (such as cardiovascular diseases, etc.). Please consider your physical condition.
7. Legally mandated travel liability insurance only covers "sudden external accidents." Accidents or medical expenses arising from pre-existing or known health conditions (including but not limited to chronic diseases, relapses of acute illnesses, pregnancy, etc.) are not covered. If you feel the coverage is insufficient, participants are advised to purchase other appropriate insurance before the activity, such as travel accident insurance or overseas emergency medical insurance, and confirm that the coverage meets your individual needs.
8. Health Disclosure and Pre-trip Preparations
Travelers are required to provide complete and truthful health information as requested by the travel agency and its staff, and to present valid medical certificates when necessary. These obligations are part of the traveler's legal and contractual obligations. Sufficient physical fitness and health are required to safely complete the entire activity; it is recommended that travelers begin appropriate physical training and conditioning 1 to 3 months prior to departure to ensure the safety and smooth running of the activity. If a traveler fails to provide truthful health information or fails to make sufficient preparations, resulting in a health or safety incident during the activity, the traveler shall bear all related responsibilities.
9. Obligation to disclose physical condition
To ensure tour safety and protect the rights of all group members, participants should truthfully disclose their health condition before registration. If any of the following conditions exist, regardless of whether they are currently undergoing treatment or have recovered, participants should proactively disclose this information:
Pregnancy; history of or current cardiovascular disease, brain disease, cancer, musculoskeletal and connective tissue disease, respiratory disease, other chronic disease, infectious disease; history of alcohol or drug addiction; physical disability or other serious illness.
Participants should carefully assess their own health condition to determine if they are fit to participate in this activity. If necessary, they should consult a doctor for evaluation and recommend that family or friends accompany them. Given that cycling tours are long-distance and physically demanding activities, if participants conceal or fail to truthfully disclose their health information, or if any accidents occur during the activity due to personal health factors, the participants will bear all related responsibilities and losses, and the company will not be held liable.
10. I agree to guarantee my physical and safety condition:
I confirm that I am currently in good health and have no special physical conditions, pregnancy, cardiovascular disease, or other illnesses or symptoms that may affect my safe participation in the activity; if I have any relevant medical history, I have informed the travel agency in advance and have been assessed by myself or my doctor to confirm that I can participate safely.
I have carefully considered my health and physical condition before registering, and have thoroughly understood the activity content and precautions before the event. I promise to abide by all safety regulations and staff instructions.
If any danger or damage occurs during the activity due to personal behavior, judgment, or health factors, the individual shall bear the relevant responsibility, and the travel agency's legal liability shall not be affected.
In the event of an accident, I will apply for a claim in accordance with the insurance company's regulations; for any part not covered by the insurance or for which the insurance amount is insufficient (such as medical expenses caused by the recurrence or deterioration of an illness, or situations that occur outside the insurance period), I agree to bear all personal and property losses myself.
11. Insurance Reminder for Traveling to Meeting Points Independently During Overseas Trips
If participants choose to purchase their own airfare and travel independently from their departure point to the designated meeting point to join the group, the round-trip transportation and safety during the journey are not covered by the travel agency's itinerary and insurance. To ensure personal safety and rights, participants should purchase comprehensive personal travel accident insurance and other necessary insurance at their departure point, and ensure that the insurance coverage is sufficient to cover their self-arranged transportation and activities. Any losses incurred due to lack of insurance or insufficient coverage will be borne by the participant.
12. When filing a claim, you must provide the original or a copy of the medical certificate and receipt (copies are not acceptable).
13. The coverage of legal travel liability insurance is limited to accidents. Accidents caused by one's own health condition are not covered. If you believe that this coverage is still insufficient, please purchase other insurance, such as travel accident insurance or overseas emergency medical and health insurance.
A minimum of 10 traveler(s) are required for the tour to depart. If the number of participants does not reach the minimum requirement, the tour will be canceled. An email regarding tour cancellation will be sent 30 day(s) before the departure date
The highest altitude on this route is 3275m. Please make sure you are physically fit for mountain riding.
Decreased ambient air pressure: The air is thin, reducing the efficiency of oxygen exchange in the lungs and causing a decrease in arterial oxygen levels. When engaging in activities at high altitudes, please slow down your pace, take deep breaths, and pay close attention to your body's reactions.
High altitude symptoms include vomiting, dizziness, headache, slow reaction, and in severe cases, pulmonary edema or cerebral edema. Therefore, those in serious condition should be quickly transported down the mountain.
The temperature difference in the high-altitude climate is large, so please prepare warm clothing and take precautions against the cold.
The mountain roads are narrow, and to ensure a smooth rescue operation, the supply vehicle will remain at the back of the team and proceed in a fixed manner. Riders are advised to bring their own warm coats, water, and food.
Public toilet facilities are lacking in mountainous areas, so please pay attention to the availability of sanitation facilities at each rest stop.
The Wuling West Ascent cycling challenge is typically a demanding full-day ride. As part of a 3-day 2-night E+Bike tour, the ascent to Wuling is carefully paced within the itinerary to allow for enjoyment of the stunning mountain scenery and proper rest. While the actual cycling duration to the summit varies by individual, the tour structure provides ample time for the challenge itself, supported by an E+Bike to manage the gradients effectively.
The Wuling West Ascent is renowned for its significant elevation gain, making it a challenging route for cyclists. Starting from lower elevations, riders climb towards the Wuling peak, which stands at an impressive 3275 meters above sea level. From the popular staging point of Cingjing, situated around 1700-2000 meters, the route involves an approximate climb of 1200-1500 meters over a relatively short distance, featuring continuous steep gradients that test endurance and strength.
For downhill cycling during the Wuling West Ascent, mastering controlled braking and maintaining proper body positioning are crucial for safety. It is recommended to alternate between front and rear brakes to prevent overheating and maintain stability, especially on long descents. Always look far ahead to anticipate turns and changes in road conditions, and avoid sudden movements. Keeping a relaxed grip on the handlebars and shifting your weight slightly back helps manage speed and navigate steep descents securely.
Cyclists undertaking the Wuling West Ascent often set goals ranging from simply completing this iconic "pinnacle of Taiwan's highways" to achieving personal best times. Many aspire to conquer the challenging gradients and reach the 3275-meter summit. Beyond speed, common aspirations include enjoying the breathtaking mountain vistas, appreciating the unique ecosystem, sharing the experience with fellow riders, and creating a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime achievement on one of CNN's top ten most beautiful cycling paths.
The most favorable seasons for the Wuling West Ascent cycling challenge are typically spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these periods, the weather is generally more stable, with cooler temperatures, less humidity, and clearer skies, offering ideal conditions for cycling and enjoying the spectacular mountain scenery. Summers can be hot with a higher chance of afternoon thunderstorms, while winters bring cold temperatures and potential road closures due to ice or snow at higher elevations.
This 3-day E+Bike tour is designed to provide comprehensive support throughout your journey, integrating cycling with comfortable transfers. Transportation between major cycling destinations like Sun Moon Lake, Gaomei Wetlands, and other points of interest, or for segments where cycling is not part of the planned itinerary, is typically managed by a dedicated support vehicle. This allows participants to conserve energy, safely transfer between regions, and fully enjoy the diverse landscapes and attractions of Central Taiwan without logistical concerns.
Using an E+Bike for the Wuling West Ascent significantly reduces the physical demands of the challenging gradients, making this iconic route accessible to a wider range of cyclists. The electric assistance helps riders maintain a consistent pace uphill, allowing them to conserve energy and better appreciate the stunning mountain scenery along the "pinnacle of Taiwan's highways." It enhances the overall enjoyment across diverse paths like those at Sun Moon Lake and Gaomei Wetlands, transforming a strenuous challenge into a more manageable and immersive adventure.
Participants can conveniently reach the designated departure point in Taichung, as it serves as a major transportation hub. High-speed rail (HSR) services connect Taichung to major cities across Taiwan, with shuttle buses or taxis readily available from the HSR station to various points in the city center. Alternatively, regular train services (TRA) and intercity buses also provide extensive and affordable connections to Taichung from different regions, offering flexible options for travelers to arrive at the starting location.
