- Introduction to Izu Peninsula -

The Izu Peninsula is blessed with rich natural scenery and abundant hot spring resources, making it a favorite among domestic and international tourists. It takes about 2 hours to travel from Tokyo to Izu Kogen by the Odoriko train. The resort provides free shuttle service from Izu Kogen Station to the campsite, which is a convenient 10-minute drive. Near Izu Kogen Station, there is a 3-kilometer-long cherry blossom-lined avenue (Izu Kogen Sakura Namiki), where about 600 cherry trees, including Oshima cherry and Somei Yoshino cherry trees, are planted on both sides of the road. From late March to early April each year, they form a cherry blossom tunnel, welcoming the most brilliant season of the year. The Izu Peninsula has many famous cherry blossom viewing spots. The 'Sakura no Sato' at the foot of Mount Omuro is selected as one of the 'Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan.' It is only a 2-3 minute drive (about a 20-minute walk) from the campsite and is characterized by a blooming period of up to 8 months. About 1,500 cherry trees of 40 varieties are planted in the 4-hectare park. Due to the wide variety of cherry blossoms, different types bloom one after another, with the season lasting from mid-September to mid-May of the following year. In addition, the famous Izu Kawazu cherry blossoms are the earliest blooming variety in Japan, blooming successively from February to early March each year. There are as many as 8,000 Kawazu cherry trees in Kawazu Town. Since there are many tourists from all over Japan during the cherry blossom season, it is recommended to arrange accommodation on the Izu Peninsula to avoid traffic jams, and book early to avoid disappointment!
