Product Info

— What You Can Expect —
Ran-Tong Elephant Sanctuary began in 2007 with the rescue of Bun Som, a blind elephant who had suffered severe abuse and forced labor. After being rescued, she was brought to a peaceful riverside home where she received proper food, medical care, and loving attention. With time and care, Bun Som fully recovered, inspiring the founder’s family to rescue more elephants in need.

As more elephants were welcomed, Ran-Tong opened to the public in 2009 to support ongoing care through responsible tourism. Today, it is one of Chiang Mai’s most well-known ethical elephant sanctuaries. Ran-Tong provides a safe, natural environment where elephants receive food, water, exercise, and compassionate care—without harm. The sanctuary also educates visitors about the challenges elephants have faced in the past and the importance of ethical conservation today.
