  • We will guide you to five famous cherry blossom spots, including the three major cherry blossom spots in Michinoku!

◆ Hirosaki Park (Aomori) [Michinoku's Three Great Cherry Blossoms] *Usually the best time to see the cherry blossoms: mid-April to early May

In spring, approximately 2,600 cherry trees bloom in full glory, creating a tunnel of cherry blossoms overhead in the Nishibori moat. Towards the end of the season, the petals fall and float across the water, creating a pink carpet that brightly colors Hirosaki's spring.

Kakunodate (Akita) [Michinoku's Three Great Cherry Blossoms] *Usually the best time to see the cherry blossoms: mid-April to early May

162 of Kakunodate's weeping cherry trees have been designated as a national natural monument. The pink blossoms that stand out against the black wooden fences of the samurai residences are captivating to visitors.
It is said that this cherry tree originated from three weeping cherry tree saplings that were included in the dowry of the wife of Satake Yoshiaki, the second head of the Satake clan, when she came to Japan from Kyoto.

*Kakunodate is usually lit up from April 20th to May 5th (the lighting schedule may change depending on the flowering situation)

Kitakami Tenshochi (Iwate) [Michinoku's Three Great Cherry Blossoms] *Usually the best time to see the cherry blossoms: mid-April to late April

Kitakami Tenshochi, located on the banks of the leisurely flowing Kitakami River, is known as one of the Tohoku region's leading cherry blossom viewing spots and is also counted among the "Three Great Cherry Blossom Spots of Michinoku."

◆ Koiwai Farm's Solitary Cherry Blossom (Iwate) *Usually the best time to see the cherry blossoms: late April to early May

The sight of a single cherry blossom blooming against the backdrop of Mt. Iwate during the snowy season is so refreshing.

Ishiwari Sakura (Iwate) *Best time to see cherry blossoms: mid- to late April

The Ishiwari Sakura in Morioka City is a national natural monument.
