He made his debut in 1946 at the age of 17 with the four-panel manga "Maachan's Diary," and the following year his book "Shin Takarajima" became a huge hit. Since then, he has devoted himself to establishing story manga in Japan.
His representative works include "Astro Boy," "Jungle Emperor," "Princess Knight," "Black Jack," "Phoenix," and "The Three-Eyed One." He passed away in 1989.
