  • This tour combines two traditional cultures with different stories of worshipping Mt. Katta in the Zao mountain range, and is a life trip experience where you can feel close to the "gods" at two shrines that have been the spiritual anchors of local residents since ancient times.
  • This festival is held every year at Kattamine Shrine in the Akatsuki Mairimiya area of Kattamine Shrine. For the past 70 years, men who are in their unlucky years (42 years old in the traditional Japanese age reckoning system) have carried 100-kan shimenawa ropes and paraded through the town before making an offering to the 500-year-old sacred tree, a pair of cedars in the shrine grounds. In addition, kagura performances and a Dondo festival are held in the shrine grounds.
  • In order to visually raise awareness of the mountain gods of mountain worship, a lighting production will be held at Yugami Shrine during events that utilizes light (illuminations and searchlights) to shine in the direction of worship and on landmarks (such as the direction of the peak of Mt. Katta).

Product Info

The content of this product is provided by machine translation and may not reflect the actual information, please take this into consideration before booking.

This tour combines two traditional cultures with different stories of worshipping Mount Katta in the Zao mountain range, and is a life trip experience that allows you to feel closer to the gods, focusing on two shrines that have long been a spiritual anchor for local residents.

At the "Karitamine Shrine Dawn Pilgrimage" held at Karitamine Shrine in the Miya district, you can enjoy a special tour of the "Hyakukan Shimenawa Offering," in which one of Japan's largest shimenawa ropes is carried and dedicated to the sacred tree, as well as unreleased content that has only been shown locally until now!

Utilizing Yugami Shrine, which was built to give thanks to the gods for the source of Togatta Onsen, which has been in operation for over 400 years, this limited experience serves dishes made with ingredients that have been blessed by nature through volcanic activity and involves a ceremony to express gratitude. Yugami Shrine is an unopened, uncrowded area that is only known to a select few local residents.
We will provide a high-added-value content experience that allows visitors to experience the culture and food associated with this shrine together.

In addition, both content programs are high-added-value tours that offer a visual experience of the mountain gods of mountain worship through illuminations and other night-time content.
