[Kokin Denju no Ma]
The Kokin Denju no Ma, a quaint thatched building standing within the garden, is a place of learning where in 1600, the first head of the early modern Hosokawa clan, Yuusai (Fujitaka), imparted the secrets of the Kokin Wakashu to Hachijonomiya Tomohito. It was gifted by the Hosokawa clan to the Hachijonomiya family, but was returned to the Hosokawa family in 1871 and dismantled for preservation. It was moved to the garden in 1912 and has been open to the public since 2010.
