'Alishan National Forest Recreation Area'
The Alishan National Forest Recreation Area is the most famous and popular forest recreation area in Taiwan, boasting the 'Five Wonders': the forest railway, giant trees, sea of clouds, sunrise, and cherry blossoms. Located at an altitude of 2,216 meters, the Alishan Mountain Range is one of the five major mountain ranges in Taiwan, though 'Alishan' refers to the entire mountain region rather than a single peak. The area is rich in ecology; beyond the giant trees, there are many spectacular sights: the forest railway, the ethereal Sister Ponds, the magnificent sea of clouds, the beautiful sunrise at Zhushan, Shouzhen Temple, the century-old Ciyun Temple, forestry historical sites, and various cherry blossoms and azaleas blooming in spring...
'Fenqihu Scenic Area'
Located in Zhonghe Village, Zhuqi Township, Chiayi County, at an altitude of about 1,400 meters, Fenqihu was formerly known as 'Bunjihu' because it is surrounded by mountains on the east, west, and north, with a low, flat center resembling a winnowing basket. As a midpoint on the Alishan Forest Railway, it became famous for its old street, lunchboxes, and square bamboo, serving as a gathering place for nearby villages. Small shops are densely packed along the winding, undulating alleys. Besides the well-known railway lunchboxes, don't miss the cypress donuts, aiyu jelly, rice crackers, grass cakes, high-mountain tea, and Alishan coffee.
'Alishan Fireflies'
Every year from April to June is firefly season in Alishan. The mountains and valleys are filled with fireflies, scattered like stars on the ground. Alishan boasts a high number of fireflies, with as many as 23 species, accounting for about one-third of all species in Taiwan. To have the most romantic and surprising encounter with fireflies, you must come to Alishan.

'Tianchang Dijiu Bridge & Longyin Temple'
The Tianchang and Dijiu bridges are two separate suspension bridges; the higher one is Tianchang Bridge, and the lower one is Dijiu Bridge. Both span the Bajhang River and were built in 1937 during the Japanese colonial era. Longyin Temple, located between the two bridges, was built by devotees to fulfill vows and is dedicated to Master Jigong. The TV series 'Jigong' was filmed here years ago. The surrounding scenery is beautiful, and legend has it that couples who cross both bridges together will stay together for a lifetime.
'Erwanping Trail'
Located along the Alishan Highway (Provincial Highway 18) at the 52.8K mark in Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, at an altitude of approximately 1,248–1,454 meters, the Erwanping Trail is best known for its sunsets, sea of clouds, and tea plantations, collectively called the 'Xiding Three Treasures.' The trail follows a path used by early settlers passing through the gap between Xiding Mountain and Erwanping Mountain. It offers excellent views and is a secret spot for photography, especially for capturing the dramatic sunset and sea of clouds.
