— Golf Course and Attraction Introduction —
Tainan Golf Club
The Tainan Xinhua Golf Course was planned and developed during the martial law period. In 1967, former legislator Ms. Liang Hsu Chun-chu, foreseeing that golf would become a popular sport that could cultivate noble character, initiated the project with the support of prominent social figures. With the assistance of General Ho Ying-chin and other relevant individuals, the land at the foot of Hutoupi was secured. The first nine holes were completed in March 1971, and the remaining nine were finished in 1978, creating an 18-hole course. In 1998, the back nine holes were renovated and reopened, sparking a new wave of interest in golf in southern Taiwan.
Nan Pao Golf
Welcome to Nan Pao Golf, where you can immerse yourself in the greenery of the course. Officially opened in 1985, Nan Pao Golf is located in Toushe Village, Danei District, Tainan City, on gently sloping hills surrounded by two tributaries of the Liushuang Creek. The 27-hole course is divided into A, B, and C sections. From the clubhouse, section B is in the center, with section C on the left and section A on the right. It covers 82 hectares with a total length of 10,493 yards. Designed by a Japanese architect according to the natural terrain, the fairways run north-south, ensuring no direct or backlight issues regardless of the season or time of day. The undulating terrain, combined with mature, shady trees, makes the fairways look as if they are embedded between the trees and ponds, with turns that feel naturally integrated into the landscape. The course is home to numerous birds, most notably egrets.
Anping Old Street
Anping Old Street is a key tourist area when visiting Tainan. As a central hub, it is surrounded by many Tainan attractions, including historical sites, cultural architecture, and a wealth of local delicacies. In addition to appreciating historical spots like the Anping Old Fort, exploring Tainan's food scene is a must.
Anping Old Fort
In the early 17th century, the Dutch occupied Anping in 1624 and built Fort Zeelandia as their defensive stronghold, completing the entire project in 1634. After Koxinga captured the Dutch fort in 1662, he renamed it Anping Town and the inner city the Inner Mansion, leading locals to call it the Royal City. During the Qing Dynasty, it lost its importance due to the silting of the Taijiang Inland Sea, and the Qing troops destroyed parts of Fort Zeelandia to build the Eternal Golden Castle, leaving it in ruins. It was rebuilt during the Japanese colonial period, and after World War II, it was named Anping Old Fort. Today, the only remaining relic from the Dutch era is the brick wall of the outer city's southern rampart in front of the fort. The gnarled roots of old banyan trees witness the nearly 400-year history of the Taijiang area. In 1975, to support a tourism project, the Tainan City Government renovated the area around Anping Old Fort, adding a pointed roof to the observation tower and painting the walls white, which is the appearance we see today.
