VIE presents ZEN NIGHT
A sound art night at Kyoto's Tofuku-ji Temple, where you can feel the refreshing breeze of early summer amidst the vibrant green maple leaves.
Tofuku-ji Temple, the head temple of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism, offers a "Nighttime Premium Viewing." While feeling the "refreshing breeze of early summer," you can walk through the temple grounds, which are adorned with green maple leaves, while being enveloped in neuromusic that soothes the mind.
This sound art night event allows you to enjoy sound and silence, light and shadow, with features such as the illumination of approximately 1,000 green maple trees viewed from the Tsutenkyo Bridge, a symbol of Tofuku-ji Temple, as well as a large-scale sea of clouds appearing in the Hojo Garden designed by Mirei Shigemori, and a sound corridor.
① Sound Corridor "Neuromusic"
VIE's scientifically proven brain-soothing music, "NeuroMusic," is placed throughout the venue. By listening to the music while strolling through the corridors and viewing the art installations, you will be guided into a mindful state.
② Tsutenkyo Bridge "Green Maple Leaves": Over 1,000 green maple trees, symbolizing Tofuku-ji Temple in the Valley of the Refreshing Breeze, can be viewed from Tsutenkyo Bridge. The movement of the wind is beautifully expressed through the vast sea of clouds and the rustling of the trees. Surrounded by neuromusic and the breeze, we offer a special experience where you can feel the tranquility and harmony of early summer through your sight, hearing, and touch.
③ Hojo Garden "Hakkai": Wind Dragon Dance A giant sea of clouds appears in the Hojo Garden, surrounded by illuminated autumn leaves, beautifully expressing the movement of the wind. The sounds of crickets and neuromusic harmonize, offering a special experience where you can feel the tranquility and harmony of autumn through both sight and sound.
④ Hatto (Main Hall): "Standing Statue of Shakyamuni Buddha & Blue Dragon Painting"
A unique experience only available during nighttime viewing: the majestic figure of the principal image, the standing statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, and the gigantic painting of the blue dragon stand out against the dark night sky.
⑤ Zen Hall: Sound Zen "Neuromusic Zen"
Located in Japan's oldest and largest Zen hall, this is an immersive meditation space where you wear an electroencephalograph (EEG) and experience your brain state visualized in real time as audio and video. In the silence created by digital patterns and brainwave sounds, you can confront yourself and experience deep relaxation.
