—Attraction Introduction—

  • Herb Garden Travel Diary

In this spacious 10,000-square-meter garden, about 200 types of herbs and seasonal flowers are planted. You can see tulips and roses in spring, sunflowers in summer, cosmos in autumn, and moth orchids in winter. You can also head to the garden's observation deck to enjoy a beautiful view of Mount Fuji. The garden is free to visit, but there is an additional fee to take photos at the observation deck (fees are at your own expense: 500 JPY for adults (high school students and above), 300 JPY for children (elementary and junior high school students), and free for toddlers).

  • Kawaguchiko Viral Mount Fuji Bakery — FUJISAN SHOKUPAN

This is the most popular bakery among tourists at Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. They offer a wide variety of breads, and their gradient bread is particularly famous. Designed based on Mount Fuji, the outer layer is a vibrant green, representing the forests on the mountain, while the cross-section reveals a white interior, perfectly resembling the snow covering Mount Fuji.

  • Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center, Kawaguchiko

The Yamanashi Prefectural Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center uses videos and light and sound effects to present the worldview of Mount Fuji, which is deeply rooted in faith and art. The center also features a souvenir shop selling Yamanashi specialties, a cafe, and photo spots where you can capture breathtaking views of Mount Fuji. The center is divided into two buildings: the South Hall and the North Hall. The South Hall allows visitors to feel the humanistic relationship between Mount Fuji's nature and people, embodying the value of Mount Fuji. The Mount Fuji model 'Fugaku 360'—made of washi paper, uses light and sound effects to show the different faces of Mount Fuji throughout the four seasons. 'Mount Fuji Climbing Experience'—a virtual experience of climbing Mount Fuji in just 5 minutes!? North Hall Observation Plaza Mt. Fuji View—the observation deck on the 2nd floor offers a majestic and beautiful view of Mount Fuji and is a very famous spot for taking photos. Closed days: The North Hall is open all year round; the South Hall is closed on the 4th Tuesday of every month. If the South Hall is closed, you can visit the North Hall.

  • Gaspard et Lisa Town

This is the world's first theme park dedicated to 'Gaspard et Lisa,' recreating the dreamy scenes of Paris, France, from the popular picture book series.

  • Day-trip Hot Spring — FUJIYAMA Onsen Experience

FUJIYAMA Onsen is located at the foot of Mount Fuji. The hot spring water is rich in natural active silicic acid, which can promote skin metabolism, replenish moisture, and keep skin hydrated. It is one of the rare 'beauty waters' in the country.

FAQ

1. When is the best time to visit the Mt. Fuji Kawaguchiko area for scenic views?

The prime time to admire Mt. Fuji is generally during autumn and winter (November to February). During these months, the air is clear, Mt. Fuji is fully snow-capped, and visibility is high. Spring (April) offers cherry blossoms, while summer (July-August) presents a lush, verdant mountain. The autumn foliage season (October-November) around Lake Kawaguchiko, with the vibrant red leaves complementing Mt. Fuji, is particularly captivating. Each season boasts its unique charm.

2. What is the geographical relationship between Lake Kawaguchiko and Mt. Fuji, and how can one tour them?

Lake Kawaguchiko is the most accessible and well-developed of the Fuji Five Lakes, situated on the northern slope of Mt. Fuji. It's not only an excellent spot for capturing the 'inverted Fuji' reflection but also a key hub for visiting various attractions around the mountain. When touring, you can enjoy Mt. Fuji from different angles around the lake. You can also take a boat cruise, ride the cable car, or visit nearby attractions like the Herb Garden or the Kachi Kachi Yama Ropeway for panoramic views, experiencing the natural and cultural landscape at the foot of Mt. Fuji.

3. What is the recommended duration and pace for visiting attractions in the Mt. Fuji Kawaguchiko area?

For a day trip, we recommend spending approximately 1 to 1.5 hours at each main attraction to allow ample time for viewing, photography, and experiencing the site. For instance, the Herb Garden can be explored in about 1 hour, while the Kachi Kachi Yama Ropeway or a hot spring experience might take around 1.5 hours. Opting for a small group tour offers a more comfortable and flexible pace, avoiding a rushed itinerary and enabling you to deeply appreciate the charm of each location.

4. Besides viewing Mt. Fuji, what special activities can be experienced at the Kawaguchiko Herb Hall?

The Kawaguchiko Herb Hall is an excellent viewpoint for Mt. Fuji and its reflection. You can also stroll through the gardens, immersing yourself in the fragrance of various herbs. The facility includes a shop selling unique herbal products and souvenirs. Additionally, some areas offer DIY workshops, such as soap or sachet making, allowing you to create special memories while enjoying the beautiful scenery.

5. What are the recommended photo spots and highlights at the Kachi Kachi Yama Ropeway?

The Kachi Kachi Yama Ropeway area is known for its stunning panoramic views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. The main photo opportunities include the observation decks offering expansive vistas, especially during autumn when the surrounding trees are colorful. You can capture the iconic silhouette of Mt. Fuji against the lake. The ropeway ride itself also provides scenic views as you ascend and descend the mountain. It's a popular spot for both photography and enjoying the natural beauty of the region.

6. What convenient transportation services are provided for a premium small-group Mt. Fuji Kawaguchiko day tour?

A premium small-group Mt. Fuji Kawaguchiko day tour typically includes convenient hotel pick-up and drop-off services. This means you don't have to worry about planning complex transportation routes or transfers; you can easily board at your designated hotel and be taken directly to each attraction. This point-to-point service significantly enhances the comfort and convenience of your trip, allowing you to focus more on enjoying the scenery and your experiences at each destination.

7. Are there any recommended hot spring experiences around Lake Kawaguchiko besides the Kachi Kachi Yama Ropeway area?

The area surrounding Lake Kawaguchiko boasts abundant hot spring resources. In addition to the facilities near the Kachi Kachi Yama Ropeway, many inns and hot spring establishments offer bathing services. You can opt for open-air baths with views of Mt. Fuji while you soak, or experience traditional Japanese indoor hot spring baths. These hot springs are perfect for soothing travel fatigue and immersing yourself in Japan's unique hot spring culture, adding relaxation and enjoyment to your Mt. Fuji journey.

8. What are the must-see unique viewpoints and photo locations of Mt. Fuji in the Kawaguchiko area?

In the Kawaguchiko area, there are numerous unique spots to admire Mt. Fuji. Besides the common lakeside views, we recommend visiting the observation deck at the Herb Garden for a chance to capture the 'inverted Fuji' reflection. The area near the popular bakery FUJISAN SHOKUPAN is also a sought-after spot for taking photos that combine the cute Mt. Fuji bread with the actual mountain. Additionally, the Chureito Pagoda in Arakurayama Sengen Park, with Mt. Fuji as its backdrop, is a classic Japanese landscape photography location.
