The Miyama Thatched House Snow Light Gallery is located in Kitamura, Miyama Town, Nantan City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is one of Japan's three great thatched house villages (Kayabuki no Sato), along with Shirakawa-go in Gifu Prefecture and Ouchi-juku in Fukushima Prefecture. Designated an Important Preservation Area of Traditional Buildings, it's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll through the forests of Kyoto. The small village of Kitamura is home to just 50 households. Most of the houses date back to the mid-to-late Edo period, and 38 of them still feature thatched roofs. The annual Miyama Thatched House Snow Light Gallery illumination event, held every winter in Miyama Town, creates a fairytale-like atmosphere. The tranquil, quaint thatched houses, blanketed in snow, complement the illuminations.
Ono Dam: Ono Dam's vast lake offers a dazzling spectacle on clear days. The adjacent Ono Dam Park, nicknamed "Rainbow Lake," features seven rainbow bridges. The park boasts approximately 1,000 cherry trees, and in April, when the blossoms are in full bloom, it attracts numerous visitors.
