-Itinerary description-

  • Kamo River

Kamogawa is the river of life in Kyoto. It is 31 kilometers long and flows through the center of Kyoto. The river is very clear. There are many restaurants along the Kamo River, where you can taste Kyoto cuisine, Korean cuisine and other international cuisines. There are walking trails and cycling trails on both sides of the river, which is a good place for lovers to take a stroll on a date. During the cherry blossom season, all kinds of cherry blossoms on both sides of the river are in full bloom, and the egrets stand in the river, which is probably the most beautiful season.

  • Kamogawa Park

The Kamo River Delta is located at the confluence of the Kamo River (賀茂川) and the Takano River, and the lower reaches are called Kamo River (鴨川, same pronunciation with different Kanji characters). Here, you can experience the most authentic atmosphere of life in Kyoto. Not only people, the delta is also a paradise for birds. Wild ducks naturally inhabit the river named Kamo (Duck in Japanese) River, and you can also see gray-haired "Showa hot-blooded youths" feeding food to water birds. There are many wagashi (Japanese sweets) shops nearby. Buy a few pieces of special wagashi and taste them while sitting by the river to add fun to your journey.

  • Pontocho

Pontocho is the most lively street in Kyoto, parallel to the Kamo River, extending from Kawaramachi to Sanjo. There are many large and small Izakayas (Japanese bar), bars, and restaurants here, maintaining the classical architectural style. It is one of the most charming old streets in Kyoto. It is also a reproduction of theatrical version of Detective Conan "Crossroad in the Ancient Capital."

  • Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Garden and Nakaragi path

Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Garden is located in Sakyo District, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, with an area of 240,000m². It is the earliest public botanical garden in Japan, founded in 1924. There are a large number of cherry blossoms in the botanical garden, and there are many varieties. It is an excellent place to enjoy cherry blossoms. Nakaragi path is located next to the Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Garden, between Kitaoji Bridge and Kitayama Bridge. The Nakaragi path with a total length of about 800 meters is connected to form a red branch weeping cherry tunnel. Here, a whole row of bamboo frames are built out of bamboo, and cherry blossoms hang on the frame, just like walking in a beautiful cherry blossom tunnel. It is really a very enjoyable thing to take a walk in such a scenery. The botanical garden ticket is JPY200, and the Nakaragi path is free.

  • Randen Sakura Tunnel

Randen is the abbreviation of Keifuku Electric Railway. It is the only tram in Kyoto. It has been in operation for a hundred years. On the way from Kitano Hakubai-cho to Arashiyama (Kitano Line), there is a famous cherry blossom tunnel, from [Utano] station to [Narutaki]. Between the stations, there are about 70 Someiyoshino cherry trees, which fully fits the romantic scene imagined by countless animations in which cherry blossoms fly by and the train whizzes by. Between [Utano] Station and [Narutaki] Station, there are 3 to 4 shooting spots specially opened up for tourists, managed by staff, and trains of different colors leave about every ten minutes. No need to worry if you cannot take ideal photos as you can just wait patiently for the next shift. (Entrance fee to the photo spot where the cherry blossom train passes is free; you can also experience riding the Randen at your own expense. It costs a fixed price of JPY220 for a one-way trip. Please negotiate with the tour guide and return within the agreed time)
