What You Can Expect
Set off on a 24-hour excursion to Mount Ijen and see the famous blue fire that captivates travelers. This compelling natural phenomenon of blue flames in the crater can only be seen at night
Your trip begins with a 4-hour drive to Gilimanuk Port, where the ferry departs. Later on, arrive at Ketapang where you will feast on a local dinner. After eating, set off for Mount Ijen’s blue fire
At midnight, start your trek to the summit. The trek up will take around two hours. At the first stop, enjoy a spectacular view of the night sky, where a photographer will teach you how to take photos of the stars
Encounter local miners who extract “devil’s gold” from the mountain. Considered a form of cultural heritage tourism, Mount Ijen is one of the last remaining active sulfur mines in the world
The trip’s most interesting part lies ahead. Go down to the Ijen Crater, which will take another 40 minutes. After following a rocky path down to the bottom of the crater, witness the mesmerizing electric blue fire from the volcano’s lava
As you go back up to the crater’s rim, you will be greeted by the breathtaking view of the sunrise over the surrounding scenery. Your trek will end at a local warung, where you will breakfast before returning to your hotel
