Houbi Lake is named after the lagoon area on the east side of the channel. It takes on a lagoon shape at low tide, just like the "lake behind the house" where residents in Daguang live, hence the name "Houbi Lake". Houbi Lake is the largest fishing port and the largest fish distribution center on the Hengchun Peninsula, and is also the location of the first yacht pier in Taiwan.
