The whole experience was fantastic, highly recommended! The tour guide proactively contacted us the night before to confirm the itinerary and meeting time. The next morning, they were waiting outside the designated hotel; they were easy to spot by wearing orange. My departure was at 4:45 AM, and the guide arrived perfectly on time. I had originally booked a small group of up to 12 people, and I thought it would be a small bus. However, they arrived in a seven-seater Toyota Avanza SUV with only a driver, a private tour guide, and my girlfriend and me. I was both surprised and delighted – it was like having the whole tour to myself! 😆 The drive from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong River takes about 3 hours. My English is really terrible, so I used translation software to communicate with the guide almost the entire time, but it was perfectly fine! Our tour guide was incredibly enthusiastic and attentive, and with the help of translation software and gestures, the whole experience was quite fun! 🤣 The itinerary was also very rich: visiting a local floating market, riding a large local boat, experiencing trading with the locals, and I even bought a bunch of rambutans for only NT$36 – super sweet and delicious! 🤤 We sampled fresh tropical fruits in a lush orchard and tried making Vietnamese pancakes (Bánh Xèo), which was a lot of fun, and the ones I made were especially delicious. Lunch was very plentiful, and finally, we rode bicycles through the local villages. The whole atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. The pace of the trip was not rushed, and since it was unexpectedly a private tour for two people, the guide was able to provide more detailed explanations and care, making this Mekong River trip even more unforgettable. If you're traveling to Ho Chi Minh City, I highly recommend this itinerary!!
