Guiren District

Guiren District is located in the southern part of Tainan City. In the past, the Zheng family established an academy here, and the literary atmosphere gradually flourished, leading to a name change to 'Guiren Village', meaning 'the world returns to benevolence' (天下歸仁), originating from the Analects: 'To subdue oneself and return to propriety is benevolence. If the people can for a day subdue themselves and return to propriety, all under heaven will call it benevolence.' The area's old name, 'Hongwa Village' (Red Tile House), was derived from the prosperous local residents who rebuilt their adobe houses with new homes topped with red tiles.

Guiren District is home to several universities, including National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (Tainan Campus) and Chang Jung Christian University. Additionally, Taiwan Shoufu University and Tzu Chi University ( a campus is in Madou District) are also located near Guiren District.

Guiren District has worthwhile attractions such as Guiren Renshou Temple, one of the three major temples on the eastern outskirts of the prefecture city, and a center of local faith. Guiren Art Museum preserves the nostalgic architecture of a former police detention center. For flower enthusiasts, the Qijia Flower Market is the largest flower market in southern Taiwan, making it an excellent place for shopping.

The Tainan High-Speed Rail Station is located in Guiren District. Its initial planning was intended for 'special zone development'. Although there was an original plan to establish a Tainan Science Park factory in Guiren District, the final decision, with the approval of the Executive Yuan's National Development Council at the time, led to the Tainan Science Park being relocated to Xingshi Township.

Guiren District carries a profound historical and cultural heritage.
