Penang

I enjoyed the activities at ESCAPE Penang, but some things could be improved. The men’s and women’s locker room signs are partly hidden by the roof and difficult to see. I accidentally used the women’s locker room until I went to the showers. I am not Muslim, but especially in a Muslim-majority country, I think this separation should be made very clear. The rules for each attraction should also be explained at the entrance. Visitors need to know in advance which activities require bare feet or a shirt, and especially which cannot be used by one person. Nobody should wait a long time only to be told they cannot ride. Staff should inform people while they are waiting. On the positive side, moving between activities is easy. The e-scooters are also useful, but designated parking areas around the park where anyone could pick up and leave a scooter would make them even better.

We had a great afternoon exploring George Town with Shawn. He confirmed our hotel pick-up a few days in advance and even suggested starting earlier to avoid the forecasted rain. Everything was well organised, and he shared plenty of interesting stories about George Town along the way. I knew it was an English-speaking tour when I booked it, but I had hoped Shawn could speak Mandarin too. 😄 He couldn't, but luckily he spoke Hokkien! Although Penang Hokkien is a little different from Singapore Hokkien, my aged parents understood him well and enjoyed chatting with him throughout the tour. The trishaw ride was the highlight! It was my first time riding one, and I somehow got a private ride instead of a shared one. The rider knew all the best mural photo spots and even helped us get great photos. A fun and memorable experience for the whole family!
