I recommend buying tickets, as you don't need to queue, but they are all for the afternoon session.

You need to arrive early to queue, because those who go in first will rush to grab seats in the air-conditioned rooms. While there are seats downstairs, you can't see the view at all (what's the point of taking a boat then? Just go to a department store for air conditioning!). Upstairs, although there is a view, it's scorching hot in summer and freezing cold in winter. This was my second time taking a boat ride (this time with my child). Honestly, it's just about the experience; the sea breeze makes you sleepy. If you've never done one before, you can give it a try.
