Although the round trip was over 500 kilometers, the scenery was beautiful and the Wagyu beef was also quite good. A small glass of wine was just right.
We took this tour today (March 30th) and it was a fantastic experience. The itinerary is perfect: the Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine felt like a Ghibli movie with all that moss and mist, and seeing the active crater at Mt. Aso was breathtaking. Finishing the day at Kurokawa Onsen was the best way to relax.
Note on language: The tour was conducted in Chinese by a very nice lady. However, even for us (speaking Russian and English), everything was perfectly clear and easy to follow. The logistics were spot on, and the bus (1984) was right on time.
Highly recommend if you want to see the best of Kumamoto in one day! 10/10.
It's quite far, and the drive is long. This was my second time going. Last time I went in the summer, and it was lush and green, quite beautiful. This time I went with my family, and I was surprised to see Mount Aso, but it was very far away, and the grass on the mountain hadn't grown yet; it was bare and a yellowish-brown color, which was different from what I had imagined. But that's how the natural environment is, and it's so far away that we had to delay our meal. We ate almost one meal and then prepared to head back. We were short on time, and with elderly people with us, we couldn't go very far. Traveling with elderly people requires careful consideration.
Although the journey was long, the comfortable bus and the excellent commentary from our guide, Zhuo Yanzhi, were fantastic. We also bought tickets that included the Aso Boy sightseeing train, and the seats were superb! The views were unobstructed! I'll definitely buy KKDay tickets again next time I have the chance.
The tour guide was very patient. Although we encountered the annual mountain burning event, the flexible arrangements for the attractions made for a great overall experience. I would recommend the trip.
