Kamada picked us up from the train station and drove us to meet Masa. Not only was Masa adorable, he had the best disposition and was the perfect therapy stress relief Akita dog.
My husband and I enjoyed our autumn day nature walk with Masa. It was hard to say good bye to Masa as Kamada drove us to our next place to learn and make Miso Tsukemenpo.
This part of the activity was also very enjoyable. The host was very hospitable and we felt very welcomed the moment we stepped inside her house. As well as all the other people who were part of this activity. We felt like family by the time we left to head back to the train station.
We will definitely try to make these miso rice sticks for our family when we go back home.
Overall, I would highly recommend this activity if you want an "off the beaten path" type nature and cultural experience.
I've learned about the loyalty of the Akita Inu from the movie Hachiko. This dog is very well-behaved and doesn't bark. It's not a working dog, let alone a guard dog, but it's incredibly cute and fun to walk with. The meeting point is quite a distance from the nearest train station, Shikado, so Google Maps navigation can be inaccurate. I recommend notifying the organizers in advance, as they offer free transportation. They even took photos for me and emailed them to me.
A good itinerary for solo travel. The driver was very diligent in showing us a few more places to take pictures. He was also very enthusiastic in helping us take pictures. There were two other girls in the same car and we had a great time chatting.
