Half Day – The Origin of Rapa Nui

A tour that relives the arrival of the first navigators to the island. On this half-day tour, you'll get to know the sites that preserve the memory of the origin of Rapa Nui, among ancestral legends and unique landscapes that tell the story of the beginning of our culture.

The experience begins at Puna Pau, the red scoria quarry where the pukao, the stone headdresses that crowned the moai, were carved. In this place, surrounded by silence and mystery, you can sense how the ancient Rapa Nui endowed their statues with strength and prestige, linking the stone to the identity of their clans.

We'll then visit Ahu Akivi, one of the most enigmatic sites on the island. Its seven moai, lined up and facing the horizon, have inspired stories about the first explorers who arrived on these shores. According to tradition, this place preserves the memory of those initial voyages and is connected to the very legend of the origin of Rapa Nui.

Finally, we'll arrive at the Ana Te Pahu Cavern, which was used as a shelter and living space in ancient times. Between lava passages and the remains of ancient crops, this site shows how the first inhabitants knew how to adapt to a challenging environment, combining ingenuity and spirituality.

More than an itinerary, this tour is an invitation to relive the origin of Rapa Nui, understanding how nature, myth, and worldview are intertwined in the history of a people who forged their identity in the middle of the ocean.
