Product Info

Step into one of Paris's oldest neighborhoods and explore Le Marais, where centuries of culture, religion, architecture and memory intertwine.
Begin on the banks of the Seine at the Hôtel de Ville, Paris's city hall, where the Liberation of Paris was celebrated in 1944. Pass the statue of Étienne Marcel, the 14th-century provost who stood up to royal power, and pause at the 13 November 2015 memorial garden, a quiet space dedicated to the victims of the Paris attacks.
Continue to the Église Saint-Gervais, one of the city's oldest parish churches, whose walls still bear the traces of the First World War. A few steps further, stop in front of the Mémorial de la Shoah and its Wall of Names, honoring the 76,000 Jews deported from France, and hear the stories of those who resisted, hid and rebuilt.
Wander into the Village Saint-Paul, a peaceful maze of courtyards and artisan shops that reveals the hidden side of Parisian life, then admire the Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis Church, a baroque landmark built under Louis XIII. Pass through the Hôtel de Sully, a jewel of 17th-century architecture, to reach the Place des Vosges, the oldest planned square in Paris, where nobles and artists such as Victor Hugo once lived.
Enter the heart of the Jewish Quarter along Rue des Rosiers, where bakeries, kosher delis and historic synagogues preserve the living heritage of Paris's Jewish community. The tour ends at the Parvis des 260 Enfants, a memorial to the children of the neighborhood deported during the Occupation, a moving place to reflect on the endurance and renewal of Le Marais.
Experience Le Marais through its Jewish heritage, its places of memory and its secret passages, a journey through the heart and history of Paris.
