Product Info

Leave Manchester behind for a day built around doing, not just looking. This small-group adventure trades the busy tourist trail for genuine activity in the western Lake District - paddling, hiking and driving through some of England's wildest scenery.

Your day begins with a stop in Broughton-in-Furness, a characterful Cumbrian market village, for a last chance to pick up lunch or snacks before heading deeper into the mountains.

From there, head to Wast Water - England's deepest lake - for a guided kayak session on its dramatically quiet waters, framed by some of the highest peaks in the Lakes. Far fewer visitors ever see Wast Water from the water itself, and it's an entirely different way to experience it.

Next, travel the legendary Hardknott Pass, one of Britain's most thrilling mountain roads - hairpin bends, steep gradients, and the remains of a 2,000-year-old Roman fort along the way.

The day finishes with a proper hike through the Langdale Valley, regarded by many walkers as the true heart of the Lake District - on foot, away from the road, exactly as this landscape is meant to be explored.

Travelling in a small group of just 5 means more time paddling, more time on the trail, and more time in the wild - not sat on a coach.
