With your local guide, discover ingredients you may not recognize, hear the stories behind traditional snacks, and experience a side of Chengdu that can be difficult to access without speaking the language.

Next, leave the energy of the market behind and slow down over tea. Enjoy a traditional tea experience while learning how teahouses became an essential part of Chengdu’s social life. More than a drink, tea represents the relaxed pace, conversation, and sense of community for which the city is known.

Complete the experience with a hands-on introduction to Chinese calligraphy. Under the guidance of a local teacher, learn how to hold a traditional brush, practice basic strokes, and create your own Chinese character artwork to take home.
