Product Info

  • Fukuroda Falls

A magnificent waterfall embraced by the vivid colors of the four seasons!

Fukuroda Falls, located on the Taki River, a tributary of the Kuji River, is counted among Japan's three most famous waterfalls, boasting a height of 120 meters and a width of 73 meters.

Because the water flows down the large rock face in four tiers, it is also known as the 'Yodo (Four-Degree) Falls.' One legend says that when the monk Saigyo visited this place long ago,

he praised it by saying, 'You cannot truly appreciate the elegance of this waterfall unless you visit it once in each of the four seasons.'

The lines created by the water flowing over the four-tiered rock face appear as smooth as white silk, and at times, they show a more intense and varied face.

From the green of the budding trees in spring, to the coolness of summer, the gorgeous autumn leaves that decorate the falls, and the winter when the falls freeze in the bitter cold,

Fukuroda Falls changes its appearance with each season.

Many poets and artists have visited this ever-changing waterfall throughout history, leaving behind poems and works that capture its splendor.

and in autumn, the branches of the lush trees along the river extend from both sides of the bridge, creating a gorgeous tunnel of fall colors.

It has also been selected as one of the 100 Landscapes of Ibaraki. (Selected by the Ibaraki Prefecture Tourism Council)
