Product Info

From the roughest, toughest district of old New York - Five Points - has come a very stable Chinatown, which has lasted for over 100 years. Starting at New York's City Hall, let's walk down onto a former lakebed where the very poorest immigrants lived. Real survivors have made it their home. Along the way, pass the courthouses seen in Joker, and in Law & Order.
Discover everyday Chinatown, a thriving district of restaurants and other small businesses, some a century old! Get tips on where to dine, where the best bakeries are, and what they offer. Where to pick up mouth-watering dim sum and other tasty delights. And street food sold from little carts!
Explore a little park with a playground at one end, and senior citizens playing mahjongg at the other, serenaded by musicians who play 20th-century Hong Kong tunes.
See a 200-year-old Catholic church built of local Manhattan stone, as well as a nearby church where the Ancient Order of Hibernians was first organized amongst Irish immigrants. The African Burial Ground National Monument, created by the first free Black community in the USA. And the oldest Jewish cemetery in the USA, which holds the graves of soldiers who fought in the American Revolution.
Hang out and grab a tea or coffee in a crooked little street that once - before map apps - was impossible to find. Now it appears in movies and model shoots!
This tour ends on Broadway near Canal Street, close to a Chinese curio shop, the Museum of Chinese In America, and the subways, to get where you're going next.
