Download the audio-guided driving tour of the Icefields Parkway and explore one of the world's most scenic mountain roads at your own pace.

The Icefields Parkway runs between Jasper and Lake Louise, and the route can be driven in either direction. As you travel, the audio commentary highlights key viewpoints and recommended stops, as well as lesser-known places you may wish to explore along the way. The road follows the western side of the Canadian Rockies, with striking mountain landscapes, vividly coloured lakes and glaciers lining the route.

Many of the most recognisable viewpoints are easy to access, often requiring only a short walk from the parking area. For much of the journey, the scenery unfolds directly from the car window, allowing you to enjoy the views as you drive.

Along the way, you'll also hear stories about notable figures who helped shape the past and future of the Rockies, offering insight into life in this dramatic and often challenging environment.

  • Meeting point description: It's suggested starting your tour from Lake Louise or Jasper. However, you can also join the tour at any point along the route and pick up commentary at the next stop.

  • Know in advance:This is an audio-guided self-driving tour; there will be no physical person guiding you, nor transportation

  • You'll receive a confirmation email with all the instructions to install the GuideAlong (GyPSy Guide) App and download the tour. It's suggested to download it before your arrival in the location

  • The tour requires a supported mobile device for navigation: an iPhone running iOS 15 or later, an Android device running Android 9 or later, or an iPad/tablet with GPS and cellular service.

  • The Icefields Parkway is Highway 93N

  • The drive between Lake Louise and Jasper, one way, is 233km (145 miles)

  • The drive will take around 8 to 12 hours, including time for sightseeing and a tour onto the Athabasca Glacier
