— What to Expect —
If you’re a dog lover, a trip to Barryland in Martigny is a must. This unique space is dedicated to the world’s most famous mountain dog—the Saint Bernard. Your ticket gives you full access to the entire exhibition, where you’ll learn exactly where these gentle giants came from and how they became a symbol of Swiss heritage. The museum is designed with the dogs' well-being in mind, offering spacious areas where you can watch them play, rest, and interact with their handlers in a comfortable setting.
The experience is divided into five interactive "themed worlds" that showcase the different sides of a Saint Bernard’s life. You’ll discover their history as heroic rescuers, their status as pop-culture stars, and their daily lives as loyal companions through immersive multimedia displays. There are plenty of interactive stations along the way, making it a great spot for visitors of all ages to learn about the breed's character and fame while exploring at their own pace.
One of the highlights of a visit to Barryland is the chance to see the dogs' daily routines up close. At set times throughout the day, you can watch grooming sessions, feeding, and even hydrotherapy demonstrations. Between the dog activities, you can take a break in the outdoor areas, grab a bite at the café, or browse the shop for a souvenir. It’s a heartwarming and educational way to spend a day in the company of Switzerland’s most iconic four-legged residents!
