Product Info

Discover the spiritual heart of Japanese Buddhism on a day trip to Koyasan, a sacred mountain founded by Kobo Daishi (Kukai) in the early Heian period and registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known alongside Mount Osore and Mount Hiei as one of Japan’s three most important spiritual centers, Koyasan offers a serene mountain atmosphere and a deep connection to Japanese religious history.
In spring, Koyasan is decorated with cherry blossoms, including Somei Yoshino, weeping cherry trees, and late-blooming varieties, which can usually be enjoyed until around Golden Week. Due to its high elevation, the cherry blossom season here arrives later than in the lowlands.
A specialist guide will lead you through Okunoin, the most sacred site in Koyasan and the resting place of Kobo Daishi. Walk along the atmospheric 2-kilometer approach lined with ancient cedar trees, soaking in the mystical ambiance of this revered pilgrimage route. An earphone guide system is provided to ensure you can clearly hear the guide’s explanations.
Enjoy a hearty local Koyasan-style lunch featuring regional specialties made with care. After lunch, you will have free time to explore Kongobuji Temple, the head temple of the Shingon sect, and Danjo Garan, one of Koyasan’s two most important sacred precincts. Highlights include the bright vermilion Konpon Daito Pagoda and the Kondo Hall, both central symbols of Koyasan’s religious heritage.
Travel in comfort aboard a specially equipped luxury coach with a toilet and spacious seating, making your journey relaxing and enjoyable throughout the day.
