Product Info

  • This is a studio with 35 years of history. Enjoy a 2-hour pottery experience where you can clear your mind. Participants often say they feel lighter and refreshed after the experience. We incorporate pottery techniques that help you reach a state of 'mushin' (no-mind) into our curriculum, and you will create two pieces using different methods. Those who wish can also choose to use 'gosu' (cobalt blue) underglaze painting for both. There are moments when pottery participants become completely absorbed in their work. This is exactly the mindfulness you can experience unconsciously. At Mushin-gama, we describe this state of mind as 'becoming mushin' (no-mind). With over 30 years of pottery instruction experience at Mushin-gama, we help you unconsciously experience mindfulness (a state of being in no-mind). It is difficult for beginners to consciously try to reach a state of mindfulness, just as it is hard to fall asleep if you try too hard to do so. Finished works will be delivered via courier (shipping fee paid upon arrival) or can be picked up directly at the studio.

By car: Approximately 26 minutes by car from the Fuji Interchange on the Tomei Expressway/Nishi-Fuji Road. Search for Mushin Kiln on your car navigation system or call 0544-26-1640. Parking available for 5 cars. By train: Approximately 15 minutes by taxi from the east exit of Nishi-Fujinomiya Station on the Minobu Line. 5 minutes on foot from the Aokidaira Central Park bus stop on the Fujikyu Shizuoka Bus bound for Kamijo.
