[Profile of Osamu Tezuka] His real name was Osamu Tezuka. He was born in Toyonaka, Osaka in 1928, and grew up in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture. He made his debut in 1946 at the age of 17 with the four-panel manga "Maachan's Diary," and the following year his book "Shin Takarajima" became a huge hit, and since then he has contributed to establishing story manga in Japan. His representative works include "Astro Boy," "Jungle Emperor Leo," "Princess Knight," "Black Jack," "Phoenix," and "The Three-Eyed One." He passed away in 1989.
