  • Jurong Maoshan Scenic Area is located 20 kilometers southeast of Jurong City. The Damao, Ermao, and Sanmao peaks are arranged from south to north, with the highest peak (main peak), Damao Peak, at an altitude of 372.5 meters. Maoshan is the birthplace of the Shangqing School of Taoism. Originally called Juqu Mountain, it was renamed Maoshan after the three Mao brothers from Shaanxi (Mao Ying, Mao Gu, and Mao Zhong) practiced Taoism there during the Western Han Dynasty. Ge Hong of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and Tao Hongjing of the Southern Dynasties also practiced there. The mountain is dotted with Taoist temples; although they have a long history, they have been damaged by war multiple times, and most of what is seen today has been rebuilt in modern times. The Jiuxiao Wanfu Palace and Yuanfu Wanning Palace are the most famous, collectively known as 'Maoshan Taoist Temple'.
