Tsuchiura Fireworks Festival

This traditional fireworks competition in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture, has been held since 1925 (Taisho 14). It is one of the country's leading competitions, with around 60 fireworks companies from around the country competing to show off their skills. The competition is divided into three categories: rapid-fire Starmines; No. 10 fireworks launches, which are judged on color and fireworks explosion; and creative fireworks, which showcase shaped fireworks and new techniques.
