Located on Mount Yokoyama, 203 meters above sea level in the southern part of the Mie Prefecture peninsula.
From the observatory, you can overlook Ago Bay, which consists of 60 islands of various sizes; its vibrant scenery is even featured in the 'Michelin Green Guide Japon'. Ago Bay in Shima City, rich in marine blessings, nurtures local specialties such as pearls and green laver.
The observatory was renovated in August 2018, with improved walking paths and the opening of the Yokoyama Sky Cafe Terrace 'Mirador Shima'. On the wooden deck terrace, you can enjoy original menu items made with Ise-Shima ingredients while taking in the magnificent natural scenery.
From Yokoyama Observatory, you can get a panoramic view of the Ago Bay ria coast and various islands of all sizes!
