The Ranjatai had a lovely scent. There was a long line outside to get in, but the autumn leaves in Ueno Park were so pleasant that the wait wasn't too bad.
Overall, the itinerary was good, and the tour guide was very friendly. We were lucky that day, getting a clear view of Mt. Fuji's summit for several minutes from the 5th station, which was truly moving. However, the 90-minute stop at Gotemba Outlet meant we didn't get to visit many shops, which was a bit of a shame. Overall, though, it's still a very worthwhile trip!
Located at the end of Ameya-Yokochō, it's quite quiet at night. There's a FamilyMart nearby. The reception staff speak Chinese and offer free welcome drinks and amenities. Bottled water isn't provided in the room and must be purchased at the counter. Breakfast is served in the first-floor restaurant, and is a set menu that can be eaten in or taken away.
1. It gets very crowded even on weekdays, so I highly recommend being among the first to enter at 9:30 AM. 2. Just show the QR code to the ticket checker at the entrance and swipe it to open the ticket. 3. You need to enter the Van Gogh exhibition souvenir shop to buy anything. Popular items have purchase limits. The museum souvenir shop at the entrance also has a few Van Gogh items. 4. You can rent audio guides at the entrance. They are only available in Japanese and English, and each one costs about 700 yen. 5. Photography is not allowed after entering (so you can't take photos to check the translations). You can only take photos of the final video. 6. You absolutely must buy tickets in advance. Buying same-day tickets involves a very, very long queue. 7. I highly recommend watching the Van Gogh YouTube video with the hook first; it's very interesting! 😍
