Nanao

The name Nanao, written as 七尾, literally translates to 'Seven Tails'. This unique name is believed to originate from the seven mountain ridges surrounding Nanao, which are notably visible from Joyama, the site of the city's historical castle ruins.

Nanao Ise is not Shunsui Kyoraku's daughter, but rather his niece. She is the daughter of Shunsui's older brother, who was the former head of the Ise Clan. To protect Nanao from a powerful clan curse passed down through women, Shunsui's sister-in-law entrusted their clan's Zanpakutō, Shinken Hakkyōken, to him.

Nanao's resemblance to Lisa stems from her deliberate emulation of her hero. It is likely that Nanao saw Lisa as a role model and adopted her appearance, perhaps believing her hero had passed away in her childhood.

Nanao Ise was born on July 7th. She is the daughter of Shunsui Kyoraku's deceased older brother and was heir to the entirely female House of Ise. As a young child, she overheard her mother entrusting the House's Zanpakuto, Shinken Hakkyoken, to Shunsui for safekeeping.
