Travelers who visit the historical battlefields of Normandy often come away describing the experience as moving, emotional and memorable. Standing in the midst of the landing beaches is certainly an experience that should not be missed, and choosing the right day trip from Paris will be defining in ensuring your day is comprehensive, informative and unhurried. This meticulously studied itinerary is designed to bring together the most poignant historical sites of Normandy with the opportunity to appreciate the rich traditions that characterize this area – all woven together masterfully through the illuminating tales and knowledge of an expert guide.

You’ll first arrive at the exceptional Utah Beach Museum, housed in an original German bunker and built on the very beach where the first American troops landed. You’ll stop for a brief visit in a traditional Norman cider-making orchard, where we’ll enjoy a tasting of the cider and Calvados in an original 17th century barn.

You’ll continue our exploration of Normandy with a typical Norman-style lunch, freshly prepared for us with only seasonal ingredients. After lunch, we will travel to Pointe du Hoc, a German defense situated on the cliff tops and heroically taken by US Rangers. This cliff overlooking the English Channel today remains very much as it was left over half a century ago by the Rangers. Many of the original German fortifications have been left in place, and the area is still scarred by bomb craters.

  • Meeting point description: On the Place du Général Kœnig, 75017 Paris, beside the church at the intersection of the boulevard d'Aurelle de Paladines and the Avenue de la Porte des Ternes. The tour representative will be standing on the right side when facing the church, holding a City Wonders sign. Arriving by metro: Take metro Line 1 to “Porte Maillot”, take exit number 4 “Avenue Charles de Gaulle”, located 10-minute away from the meeting point. When exiting the metro, you will see a big brown Tower and a big rectangular building named “Palais des Congrès”. Walk towards the big brown Tower, up the Boulevard Pershing keeping the “Palais des Congrès” building to your right. Once you reach the big brown Tower, look to your left, you’ll see a Church surrounded by trees. This is where your meeting point is. Arriving by taxi: Ask the driver to drop you off at Place du Général Koening 75017, beside the church.(Église Notre-Dame de Compassion, Place du Général Kœnig, Paris, France)

  • Accessibility:Guests with wheelchairs or any impairments requiring special assistance cannot be accommodated; also, strollers or baby carriages aren't allowed

  • Know in advance:Please note that luggage or suitcases are not allowed on the tour, as storage on the bus cannot be guaranteed

  • For the comfort of all passengers, hot beverages and food are not permitted on the bus

  • The Pointe du Hoc will be undergoing renovations for 18 months starting in February 2026. If a visit is not possible, there may be occasions when it will be replaced with other nearby sites, such as the Batterie de Longues-sur-Mer, to ensure a memorable experience

  • Remember to bring:It's strongly recommended that clients travelling with young children aged 2 or above bring their own child seat. Infants aged 0–1 should travel on a parent’s lap. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure the safety of their child

  • This tour involves a fair amount of walking; comfortable shoes are recommended
