【Dahu Winery】
A Mediterranean-style strawberry winery featuring a transparent glass design in the brewery, allowing visitors to observe the entire production process. There is also a Strawberry Culture Museum that introduces documents and information regarding strawberry cultivation and history!
【Taiwan Oil Field Exhibition Hall】
Located at Chuhuangkeng in Gongguan Township, Miaoli County, this site is under the Taiwan CPC Corporation's Exploration and Production Business Division. It is the location where oil was first discovered in Taiwan and is the oldest oil field still in production in the world. The museum features exhibition rooms with crude oil samples, exploration drilling production, gas processing, and offshore exploration data and models, detailing the history of the oil field from exploration and extraction to the end of production. Precious historical documents and artifacts are displayed, showcasing the history and evolution of oil exploration in Taiwan.
【Miaoli Strawberry Culture Season】
As winter arrives, bright red and fragrant strawberries begin to ripen, tantalizing your taste buds and stimulating your appetite. The closer it gets to the Lunar New Year, the more abundant the harvest becomes, making the strawberries even sweeter. For those who want a taste early, you can start indulging now, enjoying everything from the slightly tart early-season berries to the sweet and juicy peak-season ones; the multi-layered flavors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Adding the joy of picking them yourself makes the experience even more special. The main strawberry varieties in Dahu include the popular 'Fragrant' strawberries (such as Meiji and Meifeng), the rare 'Fengxiang' strawberries, and special white strawberries (such as Snow Rabbit). 'Fragrant' strawberries are large, juicy, and visually appealing; 'Fengxiang' strawberries have a dense texture with a milky aroma, though their production is decreasing; white strawberries taste like peaches and melt in your mouth. In recent years, the disease-resistant 'Jinxiang' variety has also been introduced, ensuring you will leave satisfied.
【Yu Fang Food】
Founded in 1986, this brand specializes in Taiwanese snacks like jerky, meat floss, and traditional cookies. Known for its diverse range of jerky products, it is highly favored by consumers for its commitment to both quality and flavor. Their signature jerky is tender and moist, while their squid shreds and vegetarian snacks remain equally popular, representing a nostalgic taste for many. The Tongxiao flagship store is clean and bright, featuring tasting areas and gift box displays that attract many visitors. In recent years, it has become a popular spot for travelers to purchase local specialties during the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage, serving as a representative brand for local snacks and souvenirs.
【Gongtian Temple Spring Blessing】
Baishatun, formerly known as 'Baishadun', has been settled by immigrants since the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1736-1795 AD). At that time, ancestors enshrined a 'soft-bodied' Mazu statue in a private residence, which became the spiritual pillar for the entire village. By the late Xianfeng period, local benefactors raised funds to build a temple, which was completed in the 2nd year of the Tongzhi period (1863 AD). The Baishatun Mazu pilgrimage on foot began even before the temple was built and has a history of over 200 years. It is the longest pilgrimage on foot among all Mazu processions in Taiwan, starting from Baishatun Gongtian Temple in Tongxiao Township, Miaoli County, passing through Taichung City, Changhua County, and Yunlin County, and traveling to Beigang Chaotian Temple in Yunlin County, covering a round trip of approximately 400 kilometers. In addition to the Baishatun Mazu, the Mazu from Shanbian in Nangang Village, Houlong Township, Miaoli County, also shares the palanquin for the pilgrimage.
