Known as 'Sun Strawberries,' the Benihoppe variety is celebrated for its large size, rich sweetness, and a perfect hint of acidity that keeps you coming back for more. Through years of trial and error, our producers have developed a unique cultivation method under strict management. Immerse yourself in the sweet fragrance and enjoy these top-quality strawberries to your heart's content. After strawberry picking, you can also enjoy interacting with the animals on our vast grounds! Located on a small hill in the northern part of Awaji Island, Awaji Country Garden offers a spectacular location with panoramic views of the Akashi Strait, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, and the cityscape of Kobe across the water. Inside the two greenhouses nestled in a corner of our expansive property, you will find countless large, perfectly ripe, and delicious strawberries. These 'Sun Strawberries' are of the Benihoppe variety, known for their rich sweetness and addictive, well-balanced acidity, brought to their current high quality through the producer's years of dedicated effort. Each greenhouse features 12 rows of cultivation shelves over 20 meters long, housing approximately 2,500 healthy seedlings with lush, broad leaves. You can see how carefully and lovingly they have been tended to by looking at these vibrant plants, which are grown using a meticulous cultivation method based on years of accumulated data. While the standard strawberries in this greenhouse are large, typically 2L size, the real highlight is the extra-large size, which are usually packed individually as luxury gifts. These can be as big as small peaches and are valued at over 500 yen per berry! Participants can taste these exact same high-quality strawberries during the picking experience. It is also fun to hunt for the extra-large ones that are usually reserved for gift shipments—the joy of finding one is truly special! We use a high-bench cultivation method, with shelves raised about 1 meter off the ground, making it easy for both adults and children to reach and pick the strawberries without straining. Surrounded by the sweet scent filling the greenhouse, please enjoy to your heart's content the strawberries grown by our staff, who work hard to deliver a 'delicious, fun, and happy' experience to every guest.
【Our Special Strawberries】
Our garden's strawberries are of the 'Benihoppe' variety, known for their excellent balance of sweetness and acidity, and are called 'Sun Strawberries.' The standard size in our greenhouse is 2L. The extra-large gift-grade ones grow to the size of small peaches. They are the masterpiece of our garden's agricultural team, grown using a unique cultivation method reached through repeated trial and error. We take great care in growing them, meticulously checking the condition of the leaves and soil moisture. We have spaced the seedlings wider than usual to ensure you can pick large, high-quality strawberries, and we are confident that our guests will be delighted with the experience.
【Dining】
Our soft-serve ice cream made with harvested strawberries is also very popular at the garden. It contains no additives and is a signature item made with 100% of our own strawberries. Although it is called soft-serve, it has a texture more like gelato made from shaved strawberries. We also recommend the 'Awaji Milk Soft-Serve,' made with simple ingredients of Awaji Island milk and beet sugar, as well as the 'Milk and Strawberry Mix Soft-Serve.' *As these are additive-free, they melt easily, so we recommend purchasing them in a cup on warm or windy days.
【Activities】
After strawberry picking, you can enjoy interacting with the cute animals raised in our animal plaza. We have friendly ducks, fluffy rabbits, growing baby goats, and a new addition: a friendly donkey. Spend some precious time interacting with animals you don't often get to see. There is also a dog run on-site, which is popular with guests visiting with their dogs. With many other attractions in the garden, please enjoy your day to the fullest.
