Before getting married, I had been here several times for my tour bus business, but I had never been inside the village, so it was a long-awaited visit. There was an event held over the long weekend, and many people with dogs came to the village, and my dog was excited the whole time. Even just walking around, people would call out to my dog, calling out "Hey dog!" just as if he were a small child. Usually, when traveling with a dog, you always have to be considerate of others and take a step back, but here, dogs are welcomed, which is a heartfelt pleasure, and we had a really fun time. Above all, all the staff care about Edo Village, and you can sense their determination to make it a lively place. Both adults and dogs enjoyed themselves, and it was a great memory.
It's very convenient; you can go directly to Nikko attractions from Shinjuku. The tour leader on the first day was also very good and didn't seem inexperienced at all.
Long queues already formed starting at 9 AM, saving you time on ticket purchases. If you have a travel pass, you get a 10% discount if you buy tickets on-site! But you still have to queue! The cable car is small, so it moves slowly!
Overall, the itinerary was well-planned, but the vehicle was incredibly small! Seventeen people were crammed into a minibus, with knees practically touching the seats in front. The 2.5-hour journey, including mountain roads, was extremely painful, and I was one of the shorter travelers! Also, the onsen facilities were rather old. The tour leader was excellent, communicating diligently with everyone and even helping with photos. (Itinerary for October 22, 2025: Nikko Shrine had no autumn leaves yet, Lake Chuzenji had autumn leaves, and Kegon Falls was slightly red.)
