Product Info

Start your private mountain experience from the Traces of Crete office in Mavros Molos, Kissamos. Travel through the peaceful countryside of western Crete and discover villages, traditions, history, and local hospitality beyond the usual tourist routes.

Your first stop is Pateriana, an old settlement where you’ll be welcomed with a traditional local treat. Continue to Modia, a quiet mountain village with beautiful countryside views and an introduction to rural Cretan life. When arranged and confirmed in advance, you may also see a traditional sheep-milking demonstration by a local shepherd.

Next, visit Sineniana and explore two historic traditional watermills connected to the agricultural heritage of the area. Continue with a short stop at the Venetian Villa Rotonda, a historic landmark before lunch.

Enjoy a traditional meal at Rotonda Tavern in the village of Kalathenes, with local flavors in a relaxed village setting. After lunch, take a short walk through Stelios’ gardens with a guided introduction before returning to Kissamos.
