- About the Museum -

An artistic stage that blends art and fashion, bringing together future trends. The ALIEN Art Centre is located in the Pier-2 Art Center area of Kaohsiung. With its prime location facing the mountains and the sea, the building was formerly a transit hostel for soldiers drawing the 'Kinmen-Matsu' lottery to serve on the front lines, and has now been transformed into an artistic sanctuary.

  • 'Dust and Gold — Makoto Fujimura, Shozo Michikawa' - Dust is impermanence, it is daily life, it is the residue and continuation of weathered matter; Gold is the flash of light, the sedimentation of belief, and the indelible echo of spirituality.
This exhibition marks the first large-scale showcase for both artists in Taiwan. The works span from 1992 to 2025, covering paintings, sound installations, and ceramic sculptures. Through the three sections of the exhibition, 'Shining in Silence,' 'Blooming in Adversity,' and 'Walking on Water,' visitors are guided to perceive the beauty of tranquility through natural minerals, light, and kinetic sculptures infused with natural energy, opening up a new perspective that turns toward softness and firmness when facing impermanence.
  • 'Wandering Through Time and Space — Ho Kan, Kwon Soon-ik' - The works span seventy years (1955–2024), covering paintings, object installations, and early manuscripts by the artists. Through a dialogue between two artists across generations and regions, the core spirit of 'abstraction' in the East Asian context is re-invoked. Using 'Form and Qi' as the curatorial axis, the works span from 1955 to 2024, covering paintings, object installations, and early manuscripts, unfolding the rhythm of perception through five major exhibition areas: 'The Order of Form, The Flow of Qi,' 'Re-gazing at East Asian Abstraction,' 'From Static to Dynamic: Dots, Squares, Triangles,' 'Between Form and Qi: The Gateway to Eternity,' and 'Painting is the Bridge Between Us.' At the same time, the combination of strategically placed designer furniture provides guidance for viewing angles and experiential flow.
  • 'Eye of the Firmament — Jiro Kamata' - Miniature optical jewelry in the palm of your hand, sculpting the infinite imagination of cosmic light, and a cross-disciplinary performance blending art, fashion, and astronomical science.
'Art in Motion — Eye of the Firmament': Stepping into the world of Jiro Kamata's works, visitors will feel the time dimension of cosmic starlight. The artist combines contemporary jewelry (miniature optical sculptures) with light refraction and innovative materials to create psychedelic artworks that resemble black holes and galaxies. These works not only display the strange colors of starlight flickering in the night sky but also convey fantastic associations with the invisible yet existing elements of the universe.
