Leaving the city lights behind, we head out into the dark sea off the coast of Monbetsu aboard the Garinko III IMERU.

This is a special one-day cruise where you can gaze up at the summer night sky from the sea.

[The starry sky you can enjoy off the coast of Monbetsu]

We will observe the summer night sky, including the Perseid meteor shower, the Summer Triangle, and the Milky Way, from the open sea where there is little artificial light.

[A dedicated guide provides easy-to-understand explanations.]

A dedicated guide will show you how to find constellations and enjoy the night sky. Even beginners and children can enjoy stargazing.

[A nighttime trip to the sea aboard the Garinko III IMERU]

We boarded the Garinko-go, which has a completely different atmosphere than during the day, and set sail for the waters off Monbetsu. The time spent sailing out into the dark sea is also a unique experience of this cruise.

[You can also enjoy the planetarium before departure.]

Those who wish to do so can participate in a planetarium show at the Hokkaido Prefectural Okhotsk Sea Ice Science Center from 16:30 to 17:00. This allows them to learn about the constellations they will be observing that day before boarding the ship.

[Perfect for creating summer memories with your family]

Searching for stars with your children or experiencing the ocean at night is a great way to create lasting summer vacation memories.

*The visibility of stars and meteors will vary depending on the weather and cloud conditions on the day. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to observe them.

Leaving the city lights behind, we head out into the dark sea off the coast of Monbetsu aboard the Garinko III IMERU.

This is a limited-time stargazing cruise on August 15th, where you can gaze up at the summer night sky from aboard a ship.

Off the coast of Monbetsu, the boat's lights are dimmed, leaving only the footlights necessary for safety, and you can observe the starry sky while listening to explanations from a dedicated guide.

Highlights include the Perseid meteor shower, the Summer Triangle, and the Milky Way. Guides will provide easy-to-understand explanations on how to find constellations and enjoy the night sky, making it enjoyable even for first-time stargazers and children.

The Garinko icebreaker sails across the night sea, with the summer starry sky stretching above.

Enjoy a special summer moment under a starry sky that's a little different from what you see from the ground.
