Product Info

Join me as we journey through the hidden history and forgotten scandals of Vienna while sampling the best cakes the city has to offer at the legendary Cafe Landtmann.
Known as Vienna's most elegant coffeehouse, visited by such luminaries as Hillary Rodham Clinton, Marlene Dietrich, Romy Schneider, Sir Paul McCartney and was the preferred coffeehouse of Sigmund Freud.

The quality of the cakes is second to none as well as the famous Kaiserschmarrn which is known to be the best in the city.
My groups are small, limited from 4 to 6 and the environment is super cozy as is expected from an institution of this caliber.

What we will do:

Discover the tragedy behind the Vienna Opera House, why Vienna is still the spy capital of the world, and how Vienna got its defensive wall.

Experience the rich history of Viennese coffeehouse culture, the figures that played a pivotal role and how they shaped the Enlightenment in Austria.

Learn about Col. Alfred Redl, the greatest spy that ever lived and how he almost single-handedly took down the Austrian monarchy.
We will delve into Empress Elizabeth also known as "Sisi" and her husband Emperor Franz Josef, her children, most notably Crown Prince Rudolf and of course Franz Ferdinand and his assassination in Serbia.

Delve into the history of the most famous cake in Vienna, the Sachertorte, its history and how it started a seven-year cake war, the influence of Marie Antoinette in France bringing about the creation of the croissant, and finally, discover the man behind the largest insurance fraud of the 20th century, Udo Proksch.
