The works Chi Po-lin captured at the risk of his life over 25 years must be seen, continuing to inspire those who live on this land! It was this conviction that spurred the Chi Po-lin Foundation and moved 8,052 contributors to generously support the cause. Consequently, the 'Chi Po-lin Space' was officially opened in Tamsui in 2019. It houses over 600,000 of Director Chi's precious photographic works. Each year, it tells stories about the land through different thematic exhibitions and collaborates periodically with domestic and international ecological and environmental filmmakers. Through exchange and dialogue, it continues to articulate and spread the true meaning of being friendly to the land and caring for life, building a base for imagery and a platform for dreams centered on 'Taiwan Stories'.
The ridges of mountains, the bends of rivers, the boundaries of the sea, the expansion of cities, and those landscapes that can never be seen from the ground. Every frame he recorded with his life is a profound gaze: this is Taiwan, this is the land we live on together. Some places remain beautiful, while others have been scarred by human choices. Chi Po-lin never shied away from such contrasts, because seeing the truth is the starting point of protection.
Chi Po-lin tragically passed away while on an aerial photography mission in 2017, but this conviction did not end with his departure.
On November 29, 2025, a Taiwanese satellite named after Chi Po-lin was launched, continuing to look down upon this island from a higher orbit in space. Every day between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM, as the Chi Po-lin satellite Fly High Over Taiwan, it carries not just image data, but a continuous gaze and concern, an expectation and communication awaiting a response from the ground.
'Re-See' is a chance to start recalling the inspiration of the 2013 documentary 'Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above' once again.
'Re' stands for again and restart, which is also the core concept of this exhibition. Through a narrative thread of Re-Discover, Re-Think, and Re-Act, we invite you to step inside and read. Every turn is a shift in perspective, and every ray of light carries a fragment of the Taiwan that Chi Po-lin once saw, guiding us deeper into the land and becoming a force for change.
The satellite sends signals from the universe, the helicopter looks down at the earth from the sky, and we are the receivers standing on the ground. How can we use our eyes, ears, and hands to re-experience everything Chi Po-lin once saw? It is not just the magnificent and moving landscapes, but the thin yet unbreakable resilient emotional bond between every person and this land.
Seeing is never the end. Every intention that arises from seeing anew is the origin of change.
We sincerely invite you to visit and rediscover Taiwan from the bird's-eye perspective of Director Chi Po-lin, and listen to the moving stories conveyed by each work.
